Travel guides: the cast of characters showing us the best and worst vacation spots

Matt and Brett

Bona fide travel addicts Matt and Brett joined the series in season four from Newcastle, NSW.

The married couple, who have been together for 19 years now, describe themselves as an ‘upscale traveler’ who also enjoys a bargain.

As Matt is organized and packs his outfits in plastic bags via the suitcase, Brett is much happier with the ride, which leads to some delicious Bert-and-Ernie energy that makes for great TV.

They’re also hilarious, give biting commentary, and always make audiences laugh.

The Fren family

The lovely Fren family have been a regular since season one, bringing immediate joy to the show with their upbeat nature.

Papa Mark is upbeat and straightforward, with a knack for negotiating room upgrades. He has been married to his wife Cathy for over 30 years and their two children, Victoria and Jonathan, are still there.

Their family grew earlier this year, with Jonathan marrying longtime partner Danielle Clarke.

The other members of the Travel guides actors Matt, Brett, Kevin, Janetta, Mel and Stack were all in attendance – so cute!

Kevin and Janetta

‘Holiday snobs’ Kevin and Janetta always get a laugh.

The couple, in their sixties, are passionate about wine and a seasoned traveler. They’re also passionate seekers when it comes to their vacations, making sure they have the best experience possible, so being thrown into weird situations on the show is always a good laugh.

They will not hesitate to ask the director either, which earned them the slogan “we do not suffer in silence”.

Kev, Dorian and Teng

Best friends Kev, Dorian, and Teng love food, computer games, movies, and music.

Kev is a pop culture expert, Dorian studies teaching, and Teng is the risk taker, who continues to postpone college in the hopes of having a good time.

Their combined heritage spans China, Greece and Vietnam, giving them a unique view of the world when it comes to spectacle.

Pile and Mel

Identical twins and country cowgirls, Stack and Mel are still fairly new to the Travel guides universe, and at first were a little leery of traveling beyond their home in the Queensland hinterland.

Having traveled across Australia for lassoing events at various rodeos, this is a chic vacation that leaves these girls feeling like a few fish out of the water, but their tough country attitude means they have no fear. a lot, and there’s nothing they won’t try!

Happy to rough it, the couple also enjoy camping outside and being among their horses and dogs.
