Staycation/road trip ideas to do with mom this weekend
Are you planning to do something different with mom for Mother’s Day? Perhaps a moment of complicity or family? So why not “stay to get away”? There’s no need to spend a lot of money on your travel plans when you can take advantage of everything T&T has to offer.
Road tripping means you can throw everything you need in the trunk and get to your destination without having to be in enclosed spaces with other people outside of your immediate family.
However, be sure to plan scenic stops along the way for valuable photo opportunities. The same goes for a vacation as there are plenty of lovely (and some free) destinations that mom would definitely enjoy.
Let’s take a look at this compilation of vacation/road trip ideas for “mommy and me time”.
1. A turtle watching adventure.
Take advantage of turtle nesting season this year and plan a trip to the northeast coast to see these wonders of nature return to our shores to lay their eggs. Places such as the Mt Plasir Estate Hotel and Le Grand Almadier, for example, offer their guests bed and breakfast packages. If you want something that includes a luxurious experience, you can also check out Anise Resort and Spa in San Souci.
2. A beach house getaway.
There are many facilities along the north and southeast coasts that offer a full all-inclusive package with meals and accommodation. You also have the option of accommodation only. And if you’re up for adventure, you also have the option of a ‘Down of Islands’ trip. Either way, mom can kick back, relax, and enjoy the ocean or the pool for the weekend.
3. Can’t find last minute accommodation?
Then take a trip to the beach, start early perhaps with a breakfast date, then head to the beach for a day of family fun and maybe a picnic.
4. A visit to Mom’s hometown.
When was the last time you visited or took your mother to visit a family member in her hometown or where she grew up? Give mom the gift of nostalgia this Mother’s Day and take her to visit her parents or maybe a sibling or aunt she hasn’t seen in a while.
5. A trip to a scenic or historical site.
Have you ever heard of the Icacos Lagoon? Columbus Bay? Shark River? What about Fort George? It’s not just about the location, but about the priceless photographic experience and memories that come with it. No transport? Road Trip TT has an event calendar for the month of May.
6. A boutique hotel experience.
Why not book a room for you and mum for the weekend at a hotel where everything is taken care of, including meals and a spa experience. Hotels such as Cara Suites and Kapok, for example, are currently offering great deals.
7. A trip to the Dragon Fruit Pioneer Market in Penal.
A unique experience where you and your mom can visit the farm and pick and buy your own exotic fruits. You can contact them through their Facebook page.
Hoping that whatever your choice, mom especially enjoys her day with you.
