Road closures and travel information you need to know ahead of the Bristol Triathlon this weekend

One of Bristol’s biggest sporting events will return to the city this weekend, bringing with it a host of road closures and travel disruptions.

The Bristol Harborside Triathlon will see dozens of athletes taking part in a swim, bike and run event around the harbor on Sunday afternoon.

They will compete in either 1,500m or 750m swimming in the harbor, before tackling a 40 km or 20 km cycle and a 10 km or 5 km run.

And as you might expect, for the race to run successfully, a number of roads in the city center will need to be closed at different times of the weekend.

Brunel Lock Road will be closed from its junction with Cumberland Road at the west end to the included parking lot at its east end. The road will be closed from 3 p.m. on Saturday until 11.59 p.m. on Sunday.

On Sunday, a number of major downtown roads – including the portway – will be closed for most of the day.

This map shows road closures due to the Bristol triathlon on Sunday.
