Heathrow Airport: Tui, Jet2 and easyJet travel information as British Airways confirms vaccination passport plan

British Airways is set to launch a new app-based vaccine passport that will show passengers it is safe to travel abroad.

The app will allow people who have had both jabs to register their status on BA’s smartphone app as part of the new plans.

International travel is still extremely limited at this time and a government task force is expected to report to Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Monday, April 12, who will detail when and how international travel can resume.

It may be some time before families in Berkshire and the rest of the country can take a vacation abroad.

A scientist from a government advisory body also said summer vacation abroad is “extremely unlikely” this year due to the risk of people bringing variants of the coronavirus back to the UK.

A minister also stressed that it was still “too early” to book holidays abroad.

British Airways Managing Director Sean Doyle said: “For us it’s pretty straightforward. I believe that people who have been vaccinated should be able to travel without restriction, and those who have not been vaccinated should be able to travel with a negative test result.

Here’s how other airlines are helping their customers.

easyJet informs its customers by e-mail if all or part of their trips are canceled.

Options may include passengers who switch to another company flight for free, choose a voucher for the full value of their ticket (12 months value from date of issue), or request a refund.

Anyone who needs to fly to or from a destination subject to a government travel ban also has these options.

Each of these requests must be made at least two hours before departure.

The company also thoroughly disinfects its cabins every day and its planes are equipped with HEPA filtration technology for ventilation.

Jet2 is helping customers change their reservations if they need to make a change due to self-isolation or showing symptoms of the coronavirus themselves.

Passengers can also get refunds if Jet2 cancels their flight.

Like easyjet, airplanes are also equipped with HEPA air filtration systems for ventilation.

For those looking further ahead, the company has announced a range of ski destinations for winter 2021/22 from London Stansted.

At the time of writing, fees as low as £ 39 each way to places like Geneva and Grenoble, based on round-trip flights in January and February next year.

Jet2 says these tickets won’t last long, so passengers will need to be quick.

TUI website says the airline will not require proof of a vaccine for passengers to travel.

Anyone who has to travel before the end of June has the option of changing their vacation free of charge up to 28 days before their departure date.

Holidays are still not allowed, and if the lockout rules affect existing bookings, TUI will cancel the holidays – either by offering a refund or by changing the trip to another day for free.

The airline reminds passengers that if a party member contracts coronavirus or needs to self-isolate upon departure, it is imperative that they do not travel.

Again, passengers will be able to modify their vacations without any modification fees.

Reservations can also be changed for anyone traveling to a destination that requires them to self-quarantine upon return.
